Our Mission

The North Tongass Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to the saving of lives and property as a result of fires, medical emergencies, and other disasters.  Our members stand ready to respond to all those who live, work, or simply pass through our community and are dedicated to providing this service in the safest and most cost efficient manner possible.

Today's Fire Danger:

Please be very careful with fire!

What does the Fire Danger mean:

When the fire danger is "low" it means that fuels do not ignite easily from small embers, but a more intense heat source, such as lightning, may start fires in duff or dry rotten wood. Fires in open, dry grasslands may burn easily a few hours after a rain, but most wood fires will spread slowly, creeping or smoldering. Control of fires is generally easy.
